Developmental disorders

Anchored tongue. It should be treated with a simple operation to restore the child’s normal ability to speak and eat. Cleft lip and palate. It requires complex medical intervention.

Chicken pox

Similarly to other body surfaces, the child has small rashes in the mouth which turn into oozing blisters.

Measles

There are white spots in the frontal part of the oral cavity.

Scarlet fever

The tip and the edges of the tongue are red. The body of the tongue is covered in a whitish coat with red spots.

Herpes simplex

It is a common inflammatory condition in and around the mouth which is accompanied by fever. Although nearly 100% of the young population is infected with the virus, inflammatory outbreaks are rare.

Herpangina

Thy symptoms of the disease resemble the symptoms of herpes symplex, but they affect the back of the throat and high fever is also present.

Strep throat

It is a viral infection which leads to the inflammation of the soft palate and the throat, and the swelling of the lymph nodes.

Mumps

Infectious parotitis. The large salivary glands around the ear are swollen and painful, which leads to difficulty chewing and swallowing.

Mouth sores

The exact causes of mouth sores are not known. They usually disappear within a short period of time, however, they can be rather painful and they can recur.

What is sedation dentistry?

Sedation dentistry or sleep dentistry is a procedure in which local anaesthesia (numbing an area) is combined with the administration of a general sedative which makes you unaware of external stimulus and you can even fall asleep. This is not deep sedation, we can wake you up easily and your breathing reflexes are not affected. Sedation dentistry used to be recommended for patients who were unwilling or unable to cooperate. Nowadays, these medications have very little side effects, therefore the procedure is recommended for everyone who is afraid of dental treatment because of a bad experience. Dental sedation is not stressful for the body, so it can be safely performed in children. You will be sleeping during the treatment and will not feel any pain.

Who performs sedation at our clinic?

Dental sedation is always performed by an anaesthesiologist. Before sedation the anaesthesiologist will ask you questions about your previous and present diseases, and your general health condition. He/she will explain you the details of the procedure and the preparation, and he/she will also carry out a physical examination. Medical tests and investigations are not required prior to dental sedation. If you have a bad cold, we will postpone the procedure to a later date.

Foghúzást követően rendkívül fontos odafigyelni a fog tisztán tartására.

A szájsebészetben a fogászati ciszta eltávolítása elég gyakori beavatkozás. A fogászati ciszta bizonyos idő elteltével csontpusztulással járhat, emiatt ajánlott a beavatkozás mielőbbi elvégzése.

Fogszabályozás is indokolttá teheti a foghúzást.

Ezek a szervezetben más problémához is vezethetnek. A leggyakoribb ilyen eset a bölcsességfog eltávolítása, amikor is az egy másik fogat akadályoz vagy a fogak tisztántartása válik miatta nehézkessé.

What are the advantages of dental implants?

• There is no need to grind down healthy teeth.
• You can have your molar teeth (back teeth) replaced by implants, and you can avoid the inconvenience caused by wearing a partial removable denture.
• We can fabricate close-fitting full removable dentures and attach them to implants, or you can have fixed implant-based prostheses.
• Implant surgery can prevent thinning of the bone resulting from tooth loss.
• It is an ideal solution for people who would not like to wear a removable denture.
• You feel more comfortable and self-confident, which can help you maintain your social relationships.

What types of materials are used for dental implants?

In order to avoid damage to your body, failed integration or rejection, we only place tissue friendly materials into the jaw bone. The most commonly used materials in dentistry include titanium and aluminium oxide ceramics. Implants are cylindrical or conical in shape, with screw threads or self-drilling, 7-21 mm long, 2.5-6 mm in diameter, with micro rings at the neck. Their surface is roughened by sand-blasting or acid etching to allow the bone to grow around it and make it stable.

How long can dental implants retain their function?

As long as you maintain proper oral hygiene and make regular visits to your dentist, implants are guaranteed to be long lasting and can stay in your mouth as long as the neighbouring teeth. Prostheses (crowns, bridges, dentures) placed on the implants are exposed to permanent load, therefore it is recommended to have them replaced every 10-15 years. It is not necessary to replace the implant itself.

What are the risks associated with implant surgery?

Implant surgery is performed using local anaesthesia (making the area pain free). The anaesthetics (pain medications) we use do not have any known side effects. However, as with any other surgical interventions, accidental damage to the nearby area can occur. With careful planning and applying accurate surgical techniques, this risk is minimal. Foreign materials (tissues) placed in the body can be rejected. Dental implants are rejected by the body very rarely and we can always determine the exact cause of rejection.

Who can have a dental implant?

Due to the advance in implant surgery, anyone can be a suitable candidate for implants if he/she has good general health and meets certain criteria (e.g adequate amount of bone, good bone quality). You cannot have an implant if you smoke or take certain types of medicines. People with diabetes or a tendency to bleed require special consideration.

Who performs implant surgery?

Implant-based tooth replacement requires careful planning and cautious preparation, as well as close cooperation between two specialists: the dento-alveolar surgeon, who places the implant, and the prosthodontist, who fabricates the prosthesis. After interviewing the candidate about his/her general health status, diseases and medications, the prosthodontist makes plans for the prosthesis. Then together with the surgeon they determine the site of the implant. This process involves taking impressions and making models, X-rays and careful dental assessment. In some cases further investigations may also be necessary. In an ideal case the surgeon and the prosthodontist is the same person.

How is implant surgery performed at Fehér Dent Aesthetic Dental Clinic?

When we have the plan for your implant, we inform you about the details of the procedure, and if you give your consent, we place the implant into your jaw bone. If it is necessary, we perform other interventions to prepare the place for the implant (infection control, sinus lift, bone substitution). Implant surgery is performed using local anaesthesia, you do not need to go to hospital. After placing the implant, we close the wound on the gum with stitches. Healing takes 3-6 months. During this period the bone grows around and secures the implant. After the operation you may experience swelling or discoloration, but they are temporary. You are not likely to develop severe pain. A temporary prosthesis is fabricated for you to wear during the healing period, so you will not have an unsightly gap in your mouth. You are advised to make regular visits to your dentist while your bone is healing. When the bone has healed, we make a tiny cut on the gum over the implant, remove the healing screw and attach another type of screw to shape the gum. After a short period of time we take impression of your implant and the technician fabricates the prosthesis. After the prosthesis is attached to the implant, you are required to have regular visits to the office every 4-6 months.

Csontritkulásnál, a csontritkulásra szedett gyógyszer is rizikótényezőt jelenthet.

Mivel a dohányzás szerepet játszik a fogágybetegségek kialakulásában, komoly kockázati tényezőt jelent a fogbeültetésnél. Az implantátum élettartama lényegesen lerövidülhet, és a rossz szájhigiénia akár a fogimplantátum elvesztését is okozhatja.

A fent említett esetekben, a fogorvos és páciens konzultációját követően, a fogorvos ellenőrzi a beteg egészségi állapotát, majd felvilágosítja a pácienst a lehetőségekről. A fogorvos azonban a fenti betegségek egyikénél sem vállalhat garanciát a fogpótlás sikerességére.

    Tökéletes megoldás a metszőfogak helyrehozásához.
  • Cirkónium-oxid korona, amelynek nincs fém tartalma, stabil, színe fehér, ezáltal nagyon
esztétikus. Tervezése és gyártása számítógép segítségével történik.
  • Implantációs fogpótlás (fogbeültetés), ami az egyik legtartósabb megoldás. A fogbeültetés
A titánium allergia tipikus
tünetei a következők: fejfájás, ízületi problémák, szájszárazság, száj körüli panaszok (pl. ekcéma,
    ínygyulladás), krónikus fáradtság

Teljes fogatlanság esetén mi a teendő?

Idősebb korban is javasoljuk a fogak mielőbbi pótlását, mert kiemelten fontos a beszéd- és
rágófunkció visszaállítása és az ínysorvadás elkerülése miatt. Ilyen esetben a páciens kétféle

elvesztette, akkor a fogpótlást állcsontgerinchez rögzítjük. A kivehető fogpótlások két fajtája a
ő következő: kivehet fogpótlás (teljes fogatlanság ő esetén), részlegesen kivehet fogpótlás (néhány
    saját fog esetén).

    A kivehető fogpótlás előnyei:

    • könnyen eltávolítható
    • a páciens visszakapja a beszéd- és rágási funkciót
    • költséghatékony

    A kivehető fogpótlás hátránya:

Milyen betegeknek ajánljuk a fogpótlással foglalkozó szakrendelés felkeresését?

A fogászatban számos fogpótlási megoldás létezik.
A Fehér Dent Altatásos Fogászatnál a páciensek mindezekről
    részletes tájékoztatást kapnak.

    Az elérhető fogpótlások fajtái:

    Rögzített fogpótlás

    • Ideiglenes fogpótlás (Rendelőnkben azonnal elkészíthető változat is létezik!)
    • Csiszolás nélküli fogpótlás
    • Esztétikus koronák
    • Fém-kerámia korona
    • Teljes kerámia (fémmentes) korona (fémallergia esetén is alkalmazható)
    • Cirkónium-oxid korona
    • Kerámia héjak
    • Arany - kerámia koronák
    • Galvanizált arany - kerámia korona

    • Implantátumokra készülő különféle pótlások

    Kivehető fogpótlás

    • Teljes kivehető fogsor
    • Részleges kivehető fogpótlás
    What is aesthetic dentistry?

Aesthetic dentistry is a global approach to all fields of dentistry using modern techniques and materials. It reflects a new attitude to dentistry by both the dentist and the patient.

    What is this new attitude?

Modern people prefer perfect appearance due to increased competition, for example on the labour market, where people who have better looks have more chances. Pleasant appearance is determined by several factors: clothes, cleanliness and, of course, a pleasant smile and healthy teeth. We can design and create you a unique and aesthetic smile that best fits your personality, and the health of your teeth is an essential component of this process.

    What does smile design involve?

Your dentist is familiar with the criteria for a nice and perfect smile. Aesthetic or cosmetic dentistry restores your dentition applying these well-defined criteria and the result is spectacular and aesthetic. Treatment usually involves several consecutive steps.

What is the first step of treatment?

The first step is to define the cause of your dissatisfaction with your smile. We listen to your opinion and wishes and take them into account when designing your smile. Then we assess your teeth, their position in your mouth, as well as their size and proportion. We also assess the shape of your face and lips, and start the designing process, which is the most important part of the reconstruction. Your dentist will take digital photos of your teeth from various angles and zooms and use these images to design your new appearance. He/she will create computer models to show you the plans. It is possible to make changes to the plan. When you are satisfied with the proposed design, your dentist will start the actual treatment and lab work. This approach may seem time consuming, but your patience will result in an outcome you have expected before the treatment. Alterations made to your teeth, certain areas on your face (such as cheek bones), or lips will give you new appearance that can make you feel more confident, healthy and successful. Aesthetic dentistry requires excellent skills and precision by your dentist. One of the biggest advantages of aesthetic dentistry is that we can create natural looking restorations without using metals or alloys. These materials can be safely used in patients with metal allergy. The most common use of such materials is the replacement of amalgam fillings.

Who can have removable elastic, metal-free thermoplastic prosthesis?

It is a good solution for people with metal allergy, but anyone can enjoy the benefits: high-quality restorations and prostheses; non-toxic, non-allergenic; perfect fit; no need for palatal coverage that can cause nausea, irritation, sensitivity of the palate; aesthetic, stable and hygienic appliances; no inconvenience by your denture or prosthesis at any age; premium solution and extraordinary quality for those who are willing to pay a bit more for value.

What kind of restorations can be made of thermoplastics?

    Full dentures
Removable dentures retained by remaining teeth without palatal coverage
    Dental posts
    Clip attachments
Temporary and permanent crowns and bridges
    Bite plates
    Retainer splints
The biggest advantage of these types of restorations is that there is no need to grind down neighbouring teeth.

How will my speech be influenced by wearing braces?

One of the most common questions we get asked is: how will the wearing of braces influence speech? Traditional braces are glued to the outer surfaces of tooth, and since the inner surfaces of teeth are used to produce speech it will have very little effect on the ability to speak normally. Of course, the first few days of wearing braces may feel strange to have a foreign body in the mouth (which may affect speech somewhat), however this will quickly subside. The disadvantage of lingual braces (even though they are esthetically superior) is that, since they are glued on the inner surface of the teeth, they may interfere with the ability of the tongue to contact the teeth and thus produce speech. This is also, however, more noticable at the beginning of the treatment. Once time passes, it can be accounted for and speech will return to normal.

    Is orthodontic treatment painful?

The best part about orthodontic treatment is that even though it happens in a dental office, it does not come with the same pain or unpleasant feelings. Brackets are glued to the teeth, which are polished prior to this, and does not cause any pain to the patient. During the treatment the archwire is changed, which may be uncomfortable during the first few days after the appointment due to tension within the wire. At the end of the treatment, the brackets are quickly removed and the teeth are polished from any remaning adhesive material, which yet again causes no pain to the patient.

X-Ray, MRI, metal detector – can braces cause problems with these?

Metal braces do not cause problems with these types of imaging devices, because they are made from a material which does not attract the magnetism of MRI devices. Regardless of this, removable appliances are usually removed from the mouth when undergoing MRI. Similarily, metal detectors are not sensitive to this type of metal so you won’t have to explain that you have braces in your mouth the next time you are at an airport or court.

How long do I have to wear braces?

There is no general rule regarding this because all cases are different. Smaller corrections can be made in as little as a year and a half. Larger deviations sometimes need a few years to correct.

How do we brush effectively with an electric toothbrush?

From many aspects, an electric toothbrush is much more advantageous than a manual toothbrush in removing plaque from the teeth. The technique for each electric toothbrush, however, can varying based on what kind of brush it is. In regards to oral hygeine, we should keep in mind that the brush head should be replaced every three months, we should keep the ideal duration of tooth brushing, and we shouldn’t use excess force on the teeth because it can easily cause damage to the enamel.

If I have braces, what should I look out for when I brush my teeth?

We must clean our teeth very carefully while wearing braces, because food particles can remain stuck in between the brackets very easily. Interdental brushes are just one effective measure we can take to ensure this. Special orthodontic toothbrushes can be bought which come in manual and electric forms. Cone shaped brushes are also able to perform the proper oral hygeine measures in this case. The use of an oral irrigator can also help to keep teeth clean.

What should I do if the bracket of my braces falls off?

If a bracket has fallen off, and it is located on the lower jaw in the back of the mouth, then attach the band onto the tooth immediately in front of it. Make sure to attach these band symmetrically on the left and right side, so if you attach a band to the tooth in front of the fallen bracket on one side, make sure to do it for the other side in the same place.

What do I do if multiple brackets fall off?

If these brackets do not bother you, leave them on the archwire. If they do, try to remove the band, and remove the bracket from the archwire.

What should I do if the wire is piercing my mouth?

Try placing orthdontic wax onto the end of the wire. If the pain is persistent after a few days, then call our office at +36 70 775 74 43.

What should I do in regards to placing bands, if I can’t come to receive a checkup examination for a long time?

Please, continue using the band. You can use each band for more than one occasion. If you ran out of them, please contact our office.

The fixed archwired has become loose/dislodged compeltely. What can I do, if I can’t come for a long time to correct it?

In this case, wear the removable retainer for 22 hours per day!

What do I do if I can’t come for a checkup, when I’m using a removable appliance?

Keep doing what the doctor said in the most recent appointment. Please do not touch or try to set the removable appliance.

What can I do in the case that we would have removed the fixed appliance during this time? Is there any need for activation?

The appliance should stay on the tooth in this position and functions as a space mainteiner.

What do I do if more than six weeks passes between appointments? Does it have any negative consequences?

This depends on what the dentist discussed in the most recent appointment. Most of the time, there will be no negative consequences. If you have any questions please contact our office at +36 70 775 74 43

I had a fixed appliance which was removed, and now I wear a removable retainer. Should I continue wearing it?

Yes, keep wearing the appliance according to the instructions you received in the last appointment until you receive new instructions.

    Inherited abnormalities

The size and shape of your teeth are inherited from your parents. A narrow dental arch cannot accommodate bigger teeth. Teeth that do not break through or supernumerary teeth can also cause problems. If the germ of a tooth fails to develop, it will be missing from the dental arch. If it is the wisdom tooth, no treatment is required, but if a canine is missing, orthodontic treatment is recommended. Wisdom teeth are additional teeth, therefore they might not have enough room in the dental arch. When they break through, they may push the teeth forward. Tooth germs can be positioned abnormally and it results in improper tooth position, which also requires orthodontic correction. Many people have a wide gap between the incisors, and it can be a genetic problem. Deep bite is also genetic. It means that the edges of the upper incisors reach at least 3 mms below the edges of the lower incisors. Prognathism and progenism are also hereditary conditions. Prognathism is the protrusion of the upper jaw in relation to the lower jaw, whereas progenism is the extension of the lower jaw. A very small proportion of people (0.01 – 0.02%) develop a cleft lip or palate. They require comprehensive treatment by a team of specialists: an oral surgeon, a dentist, an ENT specialist and a speech therapist.

    Acquired disorders

Feeding infants with breast milk contributes to normal development of the jaw bones. The quality and composition of food consumed later in childhood is also important: avoid soft foods, give your child foods that need chewing. Thumb sucking may lead to an open bite, when there is space between the biting surfaces of the front teeth when the back teeth bite together. Using a pillow which is too high or low can cause swallowing problems that may result in dental abnormalities. Difficulty breathing through the nose can also lead to problems that require orthodontic treatment. Loosing milk teeth too early can result in crowding of permanent teeth. The teeth next to the gap try to fill the space and block the way from the erupting tooth. Crowding can be prevented with the use of space maintainers. Boys tend to suffer accidents that can cause injury to their teeth. The resulting deformities can be restored or corrected with orthodontic interventions. Dental abnormalities caused by damage to the baby in the womb or by a condition after birth rarely require orthodontic intervention.

What consequences can occlusal disorders (malocclusion) have?

    • Esthetic problems: Esthetically, teeth that are aligned nicely are more advantageous than one that is all over the place
    • Swallowing and breathing problems: Mouth breathing can cause the incisors to protrude forward. An improperly aligned dentition can also make chewing food properly difficult.
    • Speech problems: The teeth are required to make numerous sounds when speaking. For example, a large distance between the two central incisors can cause a lisp or other speaking problems
    • Psychic consequences: Patients with orthodontic problems can feel more inhibited than those without. Children with these problems can even be made fun of in school.
    • Temporomandibular joint problems: Improper orthodontic status in the teeth cause cause jawbone (TMJ) to have severe symptoms such as pain, clicking, or crepitation.
    • Gum disease: In an unruly dentition, plaque accumulates more easily, and therefore gingivitis can happen more easily or frequently.
    • Cavities: Crooked teeth have a much higher instance of cavities due to the inability to clean them easily.

What kind of devices can be made from porcelein orthodontic appliances?

The components of the braces which we adhesively „glue” to the teeth are known as brackets, which can be made from porcelain, glass-ceramics, or even sapphire crystals. The price is based on the esthetic quality or the mechanical properties of the material. The forces needed to move the teeth during the treatment are actually found within the archwire.

What are the differences between the different types of porcelain braces?

They can mostly be differentiated between the exact material and composition. Some porcelein braces can function in the same way. The main difference, which we can see with our own eyes, is the fact that some are more transparent than others.

Who is the self-ligating orthodontic device recommended for?

Self-ligating devices are a modern invention pertaining to orthodontics. It is also known as a device which uses so-called „soft” forces in the mouth to function. This type of device uses gradual, and very fine forces in the mouth and allows the teeth to be moved in such a manner as well. It is recommended for patients with little time, who cannot attend regular adjustment recall appointments, or those have severly crooked teeth. Even though this treatment procedure requires fewer appointments, there are times (change of archwire, bands, or springs) when the patient must visit the dentist’s office.

What type of appliance should I pick?

The treatment plan is the most important factor when choosing an appliance. After a diagnosis and treatment plan is made, we must make a decision about which removable appliance we will use to move the teeth. Once this decision is made, we can then decide about the material of the appliance (whether that be metal, porcelain, or transparent material), as well as the color of the appliance.
